I am about half way through working on this comic, so I thought I'd post something from it. i am happy with how it's turning out. This one is 22 pages. If you go and see my currently hanging art show, you will see more of these guys.
Captain Marvel is seriously the coolest concept for a thing ever, and for a while he was the most popular character in comics. Now, not so much. On top of that, CC Beck was an amazing cartoon-action artist. (What the hell kind of lion/gorilla is Captain Marvel fighting on that cover?!) I wish more of this early stuff was available. There is a phonebook size SHOWCASE reprint from DC, but it's all the 70's reboot stuff, really stiff and boring. I will keep my eyes open for some torn up, cheap 50's Cap comics at the upcoming Emerald City Comicon. I got all these covers from The Grand Comic Book Database which has almost every cover from almost every comic almost ever. This is my first thought on a sunny Seattle Sunday morning.
Gah! My new comic CRATER! is up now at Top Shelf 2.0! (Top Shelf is pretty much the coolest publisher of comics ever) What are you waiting for?! PS: This comic went through some serious changes from the time I first sketched it out at a cabin in Snoqualmie, WA. Here are some of my original notes (although this part pretty much stayed the same)
