Halloween Week!

Anthony Fremont

You'll note that the people in Peaksville, Ohio, have to smile. They have to think happy thoughts and say happy things because once displeased, the monster can wish them into a cornfield or change them into a grotesque, walking horror. This particular monster can read minds, you see. He knows every thought, he can feel every emotion. Oh yes, I did forget something, didn't I? I forgot to introduce you to the monster. This is the monster. His name is Anthony Fremont. He's six years old, with a cute little-boy face and blue, guileless eyes. But when those eyes look at you, you'd better start thinking happy thoughts, because the mind behind them is absolutely in charge. This is the Twilight Zone.

Halloween Week!

Jack Torrence

The Shining is a 1980 psychological horror film directed by Stanley Kubrick, based on Stephen King's novel of the same name. Though it had mixed reviews from the critics upon its release it was wildly popular with moviegoers and financially successful. It is now frequently ranked as one of the best horror films as well as one of the greatest films in history and its iconic and surreal imagery is deeply embedded throughout popular culture, although there was a long interval between its release and its achievement of iconic status.

I've made a print of the MEGACOSMIC fake teen comedy sci fi action movie poster, minus all the text. Just got in today and it turned out great. Super high quality. If you're interested, they're available now (to the right) I'm only printing off 20, so it's a limited edition. It is printed on 15x20 matte at 300 dpi with a 1/2 inch white boarder. Comes rolled and numbered. Perfect for the nerdier corners of your home or office!

Just hit "Add to cart" over there if you're interested. This turned out so well I will probably offer more prints in the future. (I'm open to requests of pre-existing art I've done) Also, thanks to everyone who has ordered their copy of Action Pack.

Also that everyone should watch Starship Troopers, because I just saw it for the first time yesterday and it's now on my list of favorite movies ever. So great.

Thanks again!!!

Popular Rex Animation

Popular Rex from Derek Charm on Vimeo.

I wanted to do something with that Popular Rex character (named by Michael Yuasa) this morning, but I didn't feel like doing a comic, since I am deep into drawing a long comic right now, and I didn't want to do a painting either. It occurred to me to use one of the few skills I picked up from four years of art school and make a quick video in After Effects from various related sketchbook drawings. I started this "quick, fun project" at 10 this morning. It's midnight right now. Rendering videos takes FOREVER. So, enjoy the 28 seconds of weird half animation. The music is a "Ghosts N' Goblins" video game theme remix by an artist called Cripple Camp, which I found on itunes.
