Origin of Haunted Tom pt 1,2

Hey all,
Thanks for the awesome response to The Cosmic Terror! I'm glad so many people were into it. I am working on another short comic now, and I've got a longer something or other that I am kicking around right now. Obviously I'll let you know all about both when they completely materialize.
Besides that, I have been reading a hand full of Don Rosa and Carl Barks Scrooge McDuck comics. I had no idea the character had such a complete and complexly detailed backstory, starting in the 1800's and ending with his death in 1967! I am looking forward to picking up the new printing of The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck, apparently it's the Dark Knight Returns of Duck comics.
With the obsessively detailed backstory of Scrooge McDuck in mind,I offer you the Origin of Haunted Tom, presented here on the world wide web, serialized once a week for the next 6 weeks. Since it's Christmas, here's part one and two. Look for following chapters every Saturday, and if you miss one, they are conveniently located to your right.
